A Brief Introduction: Bullfighting, is
a sport involving a quarrel between a bull a matador, who fight in an outdoor arena. The matador has assistants,
also known as banderillos. At the end of the fight, a matador will receive these based on his(occasionally female) performance:
-One
of the bull's ears-Average Performance -Two of the bull's ears-Superb Performance -Both of the bull's ears and the tail-Unforgettable
performance
This spectacle of bullfighting has existed
in one form or another since the ancient years. For example, a contest of some sort is captured in a wall painting at
Knossos (Knosós) in Crete (Kríti), dating from about 2000 BC. It shows male and female acrobats confronting a bull, grabbing
its horns as it charges, and jumping over its back.
Bullfights were very popular in ancient Rome as well.
